A Train of Travelling Exhibition and Workshops on Sacred Groves of India
in Three Districts of West Bengal
Sacred groves are near-natural patches of vegetation consecrated to local deities or ancestral spirits and protected by indigenous societies over centuries. Many such groves are a rich storehouse of biodiversity, containing rare, endangered and endemic organisms.
This exhibition will highlight the cultural and ecological significance of India’s sacred groves, as well as the threats to the institution’s survival. We invite you to participate in this event and share your experience and knowledge of sacred groves, tanks and ponds of .your region.
